Welcome to the Super Squad! Now that you’re in the club, we want to go over some helpful tips so that you can cruise with confidence on your next Group Ride.
DO:
Wear a Helmet
Helmet laws in your state vary and include an age requirement for the rider and any passenger that may tag along. We recommend our riders be equipped with a sturdy DOT Certified or SFI Approved helmet for any ride whether it’s a ride across the city or around the block.
It’s not a bad idea to prepare with other proper riding equipment like shoes, long-sleeved shirts or jackets, gloves, and jeans/pants to keep you safe from a potential spill.
Obey Traffic Laws
We know you’ve got a little rebellious streak, and hey, we like that about you! When it comes to the rules of the road, though, it’s important to follow regulations and obey all traffic signals and signs. Rolling through stops is still a traffic violation whether you’re in a car or on a bike. Be cautious at busy intersections and look ahead or scan your surroundings before determining whether it’s safe to cross.
Communicate
As with most things in life, communication is key! Hand signals may be new to you but most countries require them to alert other vehicles on the road of your intentions. We recommend using hand signals to let others know when you’re making a turn, stopping, or leading a group. This will ensure your safety and avoid any unneeded collisions.
DON’T:
Speed Past Pedestrians
It’s important to respect everyone on the trail, whether they’re on an ebike or not. Be mindful of who you’re sharing the road with and use proper signaling, friendly gestures, and keep safety top of mind.
Perform Dangerous Stunts
Slow down, Evil Kneivel! Stunts are objectively cool, but group rides are about respect, community, and safety. This means that you’re prioritizing the well-being of everyone in the group, and declining any offers to race or perform in tight spaces.
Disrespect Others
Road rage happens, but in this community we emphasize mutual respect and look out for everyone on the road. Don’t engage in aggressive behavior while out on a Group Ride and remember to smile and wave at passersby.
